Our Philosophy

The Learning Place, LLC The Purpose of the Program
The Learning Place will provide preschool children ages 3-5 with a structured educational program that promotes their physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth.

The Learning Place, LLC Philosophy of this Early Childhood Education Program
The early education program at The Learning Place is both age appropriate and individualized. The teachers consider early childhood development and the natural sequences of growth when planning the curriculum, and individualize the program by observing the child's individual growth patterns, learning style, and personality to adjust the activities as needed.

The Learning Place, LLC Learning Centers
The activities and lessons at The Learning Place are appropriate for children ages 3-5. The classroom is set up with several Learning Centers. These centers include science, math & manipulatives, table toys, dramatic play, sand & water table, music, art, library, and literacy. Children are encouraged to explore, gain information and master new skills through real life situations and hands-on activities within the learning centers.

Within the learning centers, children are exposed to a number of skills and concepts. The teacher guides the children and interacts with each child or small group of children to enhance their learning. For example, guided play in the block area allows a small group of children to explore different shapes, sizes and spatial relations. The teacher or classroom helper will add to the learning experience by asking questions, adding materials to what the child has already done, and interacting in a way that promotes the development of problem solving and social skills.

The Learning Place, LLC Parent Participation
The Learning Place encourages parents, guardians and/or relatives to actively participate in their child's education. Family members are asked to volunteer as classroom helpers. Classroom helpers add to the preschool experience by sharing their talents and interests with the children. This involvement strengthens home-school relations and increases the diversity within the program.

National Association for the Education of Young ChildrenThe curriculum, policies and program procedures at The Learning Place are based on the developmentally appropriate practices recommended in the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards and licensing regulation set by the Rhode Island Department of Education.
