The Learning Place, LLC Daily Schedule

Arrival - quiet play: table toys, play dough, puzzles
The children are greeted as they arrive. After they hang up their coat and put their things in their cubby, children are encouraged to choose an activity. This time allows children to explore classroom materials and socialize with their peers before starting the day!

    9:00– 9:10

    Clean up
Clean up is an important part of the day. Children and teachers work together to put away toys and materials. This helps build a sense of community and teaches children responsibility and respect. Children use the classroom labels to organize materials and practice math skills such as matching and one to one correspondence.

    9:10 - 9:25

Morning Group - Read Story & Daily Community Helper Jobs
The teacher leads a meeting with the whole group. The meeting usually includes reading a story aloud and reviewing what the daily activities will include. Children are called up to help with classroom jobs such as weather reports and taking attendance.

    9:25 – 9:30

    Prepare for outdoors
Teachers help individual children and encourage peer modeling of self help skills. Teachers and children help each other button, zip, and prepare for outdoors. Teachers support children and guide them towards becoming more independent as the year goes on.

    9:30 – 10:10

Outdoor play & Learning Centers in our "Outdoor Classroom"
The Outdoor Classroom includes all of the traditional physical activities such as swings, slides, bikes and climbing equipment as well as learning center activities. Children have time to participate in nature based activities at our Math Beams, Puppet Theater, Science Exploration Center and Art/Creation Crate. Materials such as blocks and toy vehicles are also available on our play time platform. The curriculum and learning goals are extended into our outdoor environment to provide a comprehensive preschool program.

    10:10 – 10:20

Wash hands & prepare for indoor activities
Children wash their hands several times throughout the day. Teachers model hand washing and guide children through the steps to support proper hand washing habits.

    10:20 – 10:30

    Group time – Explain centers
The teacher explains the expectations for the learning center tasks, introduces new materials and demonstrates specific techniques to explore with art and literacy tools.

    10:30 – 11:30

    Center time
Children have the opportunity to visit learning centers in the classroom (art, math, science, literacy, blocks, sensory table, library, table toys, listening center, and puzzles/games). Some centers have specific expectations that were reviewed at Group Time while other centers allow for exploration, creativity and self expression. The teachers interact with small groups and individual children to provide support, encourage age appropriate social interactions, and support the development of school readiness skills.

    11:30 – 11:40

Each classroom has a variety of music that encourages children to dance and sing. This activity time promotes music appreciation and reinforces math & literacy concepts.

    11:40 – 11:45

Bathroom, Wash Up and prepare for lunch
The teachers guide the children as needed to teach good personal hygiene and self help skills. Teachers encourage independence and praise children for their efforts to complete these routine tasks.

    11:45 – 12:15

The children and teachers sit down together at lunch time. The teachers model appropriate manners and encourage appropriate mealtime conversations. Teachers talk about healthy eating habits and food varieties. Teachers use "teachable moments" to address nutrition curriculum goals as the topics present themselves.
